Dump Truck

HCRM has purchased it's long-needed dump truck! It's used and needs some work, but Pastor is very happy to have it! He thanks all whose donations made it possible. The dump truck will save him a great deal of money during construction of the new orphanage.

With about 120 children now at HCRM, the need for the new orphanage is great. HCRM is looking for volunteers to help build the security wall around the perimeter on the new property in Gressier so the building construction can begin. Experience with stone/cement construction would be helpful but is not necessary. Please contact HCRM if you are interested in helping with this project. And please continue to pray for the children, employees, volunteers and directors of HCRM.

Here's an excerpt from a March 6th email sent to adoptive parents from Dr. Leininger at HCRM:

"You may already know that 11 children flew from HCRM/Haiti on a donated charter flight to Miami today.....The process started yesterday when 7 of our children and sponsors were taken from the US Embassy in an embassy van to the airport and Haitian customs. They were denied boarding.....because they did not have a passport, a new requirement as of yesterday. After several hours of negotiations between the governments, the Haitian gov't agreed to make passports, and have them ready for the 44 flying on the charter flight today.....Had 7 of our group not tried to leave yesterday, and created the international event, no one would have flown today, and I don't know when another charter flight would have been available.....The stories of our group staying in the embassy with 7 children are touching and I hope they are shared with you at another time. Please thank the Lord for his goodness in all of this and remember the two who still need to leave. Both of them waiting for the prime minister's signature.......This has been 7 weeks that I will never forget. You all have beautiful and wonderful children and I have enjoyed every moment with them. In Christ....John"

Dump truck?

As of today, Feb 19th, there are about 115 children at HCRM. As more children's adoptions are completed, Pastor Jean Fritz and Madame will be able to take in other children. Regarding construction of the new building, Pastor is in need of a dump truck. He says it will be useful in many ways, such as cleaning up rubbish and transporting items. But most importantly, a dump truck will allow him to buy bags of sand for the new construction at an affordable price. In Haiti, in general, the delivery cost of construction materials is often two times as much as the price of the material itself. If he had a truck he would not have to pay for delivery. Pastor says a used dump truck would cost about $20,000.

As of Feb 16, 5 more children from HCRM have been united with their adoptive families -- 3 in Illinois and 2 in Washington! Pastor and Madame Nicolas, HCRM staff and volunteers shared emotional "good-bye's" for these children who have been under their care and who are beginning new life journeys. More children are expected to leave soon. The Haitian and U.S. governments are working hard to complete the adoption processes of the children who were matched with adoptive parents pre-quake. Pastor, Dr. Leinenger and other volunteers are also beginning to organize efforts for construction of a new orphanage.

As of yesterday (Feb 9, 2010), Pastor Jean Fritz shared that there are over 110 children now at HCRM. He said that some of the children have arrived completely on their own with no accompanying adult and without knowing where their family members are. Today three children of the 23 who were in the adoption process pre-quake have united with their U.S. adoptive famlies. We expect the rest to leave Haiti soon. All in all, Pastor sounded in good spirits and very excited for the beginning of these children's futures!

So much has happened at HCRM recently.

The 2010 HCRM rent ($15,000) has been paid -- Alleluia!

The children who were in the adoption process pre-quake will depart very soon to join their adoptive families! The Haitian government and U.S. government are working hard around the clock to validate each child's documentation. Both countries have waived some criteria to expedite the process.

As expected, Pastor Jean Fritz and his wife have taken in new children in desperate situations. Most come from one of the hardest hit citiies, Petit Goave. There are now about 90 children in the orphanage. The building was originally rented to house about 40 children!

Paul Pennington, with Hope for Orphans, is at HCRM working tirelessly to help many of the children at HCRM be able to leave Haiti to be united with their adoptive families in the U.S. At this time, it appears only those that were already in the process of being adopted are being allowed to leave. A Phone Call From Pastor Jean Fritz (the latest news)

Here is the latest news I have from HCRM from one of our HCRM supporters who just spoke with Pastor Jean Fritz (the director of HCRM) this morning . . .

"Pastor called me this am. It was so good to hear his voice. I've never heard him sound so tired; he said he has back pain. However, by the end of the call he was almost his normal, visionary self, talking about plans for the future.

He has lost his house in Carrefour, some of his relatives have died and his mother was injured.

He is headed to the consulate today to get paper work done to hopefully release all of the children to Texas (currently 54 children). He feels this is the right thing to do. His only fear is that the new adoptive parents will not communicate with Haiti after the adoptions. This causes him big problems, he says. Madame (his wife) is very worried about that.

Paying the rent ($15,000) (which was due end of Dec) is the main concern now. the landlord is putting pressure on Pastor more than ever bec he sees there are Americans visiting the orphanage. The landlord assumes Pastor has the rent money bec he has American visitors. Alas, such is Haiti....

Pastor says everytime he steps out, he is approached to take new children. He's already taken in 5 and will continue when the current group of children leave.

His next immediate concern is building a security wall/fence on the new land for the new orphanage complex.

He asks that people pray for Haiti."

News posted this morning from an HCRM Adoptive Parent last night . . .

Good evening everyone,

This is Mervi,Kenlley's,Dieunika's and Modeleine's mom.I called Pastor around 5.45pm tonight. We talked 38 min. He was so happy to hear from me,and I could not believe I actually got thru. I asked him several times,if he is Pastor Jean. He was laughing.
Everyone is fine. Building had no damage,but everyone is sleeping outside. He said all the neighbors are sleeping outside also. He said they have had lots of tremors.
He said that they have had enough food and water,but now getting really low in supplies. I asked him if he can get to his bank and can he then buy water and food. He said he will be able to get to bank and there is a small market place still standing.

I know everyone has had a tough last year,but if you could please donate some money for him,He would really appreciate it.

He said that they can drive around the town,but have not get close to PAP center. And he said you really do not want to,because the smell of dead bodies is horrid.He said you cannot smell it in the house,because it is so high up,but in town the smell is gagging.

His mom is fine. She was just stepping out of the store when it collapsed.PJF wife's sister in law died and now they have 4 additional orphans to take care of.

I told him that we applied to Humanitarian visas and he taught we should be able to get it,because our I 600 is complete.

I talked with my kids. They were so calm and at peace. Jesus is in their hearts. Kenlley was worried about his mom's house,though. Mom is ok. She came to see the kids yesterday.Her house is destroyed.

PJF asked for the prayers about his rent due. It is $15,000. He has not been able to pay for it. So I hope that you can donate even a small amount to his account,I am sure he would appreciate it.

All the nannies are fine and their families.

God bless Haiti and please give strength for PJF to keep going.He has lots on his plate.

HCRM and Earthquake Status

Earthquake Update - Pastor and family as well as the children of HCRM are fine and were not injured in the earthquake. We have not been able to communicate with anyone at HCRM since Tuesday Night, but will keep you posted here as we learn more.

Now more, then ever, HCRM needs your help! We are desperately in need of people to help us purchase food, water,fuel, rent, etc. Only through the giving by God's loving people can HCRM survive in the aftermath of this horrific tragedy.
